Newsflash: Buist Parents Push for Expansion

Just kidding.

More than a tad interesting that parents at the Montessori Community School (public) have kept pushing for an expansion of the program because of its long waiting list. See A Bright Idea Grows in Wednesday's P & C.

Need I mention the school with the storied waiting list, the longest in CCSD for decades?

Imagine the following as a description of the activities of Principal Sallie Ballard and Buist parents:
"They've attended nearly every Charleston County School Board meeting since August, and they've written numerous letters to the superintendent seeking space to expand their small program. 'We cannot accommodate everyone who wants to be here,' program director Kim Hay said. 'We have so many students on our waiting list, and it's always been this way.'"
That'll be the day.

Listen all parents... Getting into Buist isn't all that it's cracked up to be... My child is in the 5th grade and has been there since Kindergarten and if we didn't live in a poor performing school district I would take her out. The administration is a joke!!! From Sally Ballard to Marsha Moreland. They handle problems poorly. I've been fairly happy with the teachers, except for some of the material is not age appropriate and I have had to watch what my child reads or sees.

My advice to parents looking at schools... if you're in a good school district forget about Buist... if you have any other choice go for it and stay away from this mess of a school.

The only reason Sallie Ballard is allow to stay is because she knows "where the bodies are buried." Get rid of her and maybe Buist could begin to be a decent school.

Dear Fed Up: There are plenty of parents that would love your spot, including my child and my home school is a mess too. Finally it is declared under performing but that is after years of being average.
