Speaking of handing out pork, or not--
Those interested in District 20's input to awarding grants from the Lawrence Derthick Fund may wish to know that the Committee meets Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Superintendent's Conference Room at 75 Calhoun to dole out the funds.

Man, you are on top of things. I'm impressed.
Too bad more of our taxpayers aren't keeping themselves as informed as you.
I'm assuming the board won't be using general operating funds to replenish the trust account this year. What do you think?
I wonder when we'll hear how the committee meeting went. Considering all of the bad publicity last year, you'd think the committee would be taking the time to carefully review each application. I think it would also be safe to think the committee won't be distributing money they don't have. But then again, the CCSD employees who made those "mistakes" last year and the CCSD board members who approved those mistakes, still sit in their same seats, don't they?
"...the CCSD employees who made those "mistakes" last year... still sit in their same seats, don't they?"
No, not all of them. At least one of them, Don Kennedy, has moved to Seattle. He was the CFO/CPA who didn't know the difference between the Derthick fund's principal and the interest it made on the investment of the principal. As it was reported, based on his recommendations, CCSD was giving away the fund's assets, not just the interest it had earned the previous year.
Has anyone independently confirmed that CCSD ever completely restored all of the misappropriated money to the fund? They said they did, but pardon me if I have trouble believing what CCSD officials say for the record.
Thanks for the correction. I forgot about Mr. Kennedy.
