Larry Kobrovsky, former CCSD Board of Trustees member and recent thorn in the side of Superintendent Nancy McGinley, has been appointed to the State Board of Education.
Kobrovsky says he's interested in seeing better discipline in the classroom.
Go Larry!

The tide is rising against a system that guards its own interests against the greater public interests. Yep, I agree. Go Larry.
When was the last time Larry was in a classroom? Or any traditional public school, for that matter? Seems to know a lot about what goes on in class for not being a frequent (or ever) guest.
Problem is not discipline. It's special education law. Fix that and you'll fix "discipline."
When were some of our local board members last in a "traditional public school" classroom in Charleston County? The sitting present and former school board chairmen have little knowledge of what goes on, or so it seems. It would appear they are too busy rubber stamping the wishes of the administration.
Like so many CCSD board members before them, Mrs. Green and Mr. Fraser's children attended special schools conveniently protected from those issues. Board members who continue to support the status quo and who are pleased with the way the super plays with the numbers, must lack empathy and curiosity. How dumb is that? As for Mr. Kobrovsky, at least he is not afraid to ask tough questions.
