Blackmail for the Board from Lewis

Sorry to say that my home computer has a nasty virus. Feel free to leave your comments on Bill Lewis's shenanigans and the Board's threats of property tax increases until I'm up and running again.

Up until a few months ago Bill Lewis could just about expect to get a blank check from the board for whatever he wanted. But as they say - the times, they are a changing. At the last board meeting Nancy McGinley had to do what she doesn't normally do for an employee. She jumped to his defense when it looked like the board was going to throttle Lewis over a contract he approved without informing them in advance. It wasn't like McGinley was eager to defend him either. It was more like if Lewis fell to the ax for misleading the board on construction contracts, she might be next.

If the trustees were interested in getting to the bottom of this, the board would authorize an audit designed to turn every rock and let the chips fall where they may. But if the board chooses to run interference by playing down the need for a detailed examination of the books it risks looking like board members are providing cover for administative misdoings.

If there's no fowl, fine, but I'll bet there is at least a loss/savings potential of one percent. That's $5,000,000. More than worth the effort in my book.

The Lewis-bashing should stop. Mr. Lewis has given his entire adult life to serving the parents, students, faculty and staff of Charleston County School District. He's honest and forthright and has been a wonderful steward of the taxpayers' money. He'd make a wonderful superintendent...on Pluto. Gotcha!

Pluto is too close for this a-hole...

While we're bashing Lewis, how about some specific complaints?

what don't you understand about being a racist and continuosly making snide remarks to minority workers?

As for a crook.....would love to see audits.....

He is condescending and his racial bias shows, but that would be typical of a naval officer from the old school. What matters more is how much deference he has given to the CM or the contracted outside construction management team. He is joined at hip with them. An audit would either support his work or reveal its weaknesses. Either way the voters have a right to know before agreeing to hand over another $450,000,000 in sales taxes for the next six years.
