Arts-Infused School for Oak Terrace Preserve?

According to Sunday's P&C, the former School of the Arts building in the middle of North Charleston's Oak Terrace Preserve will become an "arts-infused elementary school." See Quality at What Cost?

Don't hold your breath on this one, homebuyers!

If nothing else, Bill Lewis will tear it down in case of earthquakes. And which nearby elementary school is bursting at the seams? Not one.

I'm not holding my breath on Sanders-Clyde either. Did you know they don't even have foreign language for the middle school students? What kind of "art infused" school is that?

Am I mistaken or did they promise the Sanders-Clyde and Fraser school communities they would all be in the new school in January 2010? It didn't look anywhere near finished before Christmas. Sounds like another broken promise to downtown public schools.

Even with the new building and Jonathan Green's support, who's going to make CCSD raise their expectations for these kids? Who else at CCSD will make sure the curriculum and instruction at S-C backs that up? Want to place a wager on how long it takes McGinley and company to make good on any of this for the new school?

Nice building when it's finished, Mr. Gantt. It's later than you promised, Mr. Lewis. Still no substance to your programs, Dr. McGinley.
