Space for YouthBuild? That's Easy

So reports the P & C:
  • Still no facility for Sea Islands YouthBuild Charter School on Johns Island.
  • McGinley supports continued attempts to find space.
  • The Superintendent is totally sympathetic to the needs of these "children."
  • Instead of beginning the new semester on a school campus, the students will undergo leadership training at a Boy Scout camp on Wadmalaw Island. . . .
  • Yada, Yada, Yada
But WAIT!

If McGinley is so sympathetic to the school, why not give it space in St. John's High School? Let's have a school within a school. It's been done elsewhere, and I understand there's plenty of room. She is quoted as saying,

"We don't want to see children out on the streets or in jeopardy. We will try to support them, on behalf of children, with getting a stable facility. I don't know what that means yet. I don't want to see the students shipped around or scattered and not having some place safe."

Especially since the 17-year-olds (a good portion of the student body) are now barred from Murray Hill Academy under this year's contract.

She owes them.

But WAIT!

Clelia is full of criticism but has no answers.

What is it about suggesting "a school within a school" that isn't clear? I'm not sure that I would agree with the suggestion, but our host did offer the possibility that St. John's High School might be the appropriate place to house YouthBuild. But I have also heard that St. John's has had maintenance problems. It seems Mark Cobb and Bill Lewis have been seriously shorting this school in terms of quality and maintenance at this relatively new facility. But I guess that's for another posting.

At least St. John's has a sports stadium, even if the locker rooms, weight rooms and showers are falling apart and look like they belong to a 1940's era Florida state prison. So where did all the money from the last school bond issue really go? Mr. Cobb and Mr. Lewis don't like too many questions.

Ghostryder here,

You know anonymous 8:34p.m. It is okay to be anonymous and attack this blogger, but at least come up with a tag like "I hate Clelia", "Clelia is a blow heart", or some other cleaver name. And I am not writing this to defend this blogger because she is more than able to defend herself against you.

But please some kind of name. As far as criticism, I yet to see you make any suggestions on how things can change or how good things are in the school system. All you seem to do is attack this person you name as Clelia. Why not use this blog to throw out your ideas or are you just a parasite who cannot think for them self and just regurgitate what they hear; but you do not have the ability to have an original thoughts or thoughts. All you do is attack and with no substance at that. Tell us how you would make changes or do you go along with the status quo because you benefit from the failing system and you could not survive in a dynamic, creative successful school system that we need. Ciao
