Why Hunley Park Elementary?

Someone please explain to me why an elementary school on an Air Force Base would have a majority of free and reduced lunch students. Is CCSD not counting free housing and medical care for the military?

Hunley Park is not on the Air Force Base

But it is directly across from the base.

Your point?

What percentage of its students are the children of members of the military?

Hunley Park was originally created as housing for US Navy personnel. It just so happened to be adjacent to the Charleston Airforce Base and its on-base housing. Military dependents in the immediate area could just as easily be assigned to Lambs ES as Hunley Park ES. It's still a good question. I would like to know what percentage of the enrollment at any of these schools are military dependents for a number of reasons, not just to compare the free lunch numbers. Truth be told, it may be an insignificant number today. I doubt if a significant number represent military families at any of the North Charleston schools, certainly not as many as they once did.
