The new Stall High School building was closed Wednesday due to potential loss of heat during the coldest weather so far this winter.
Please tell me that it is not so shoddily built that it's already having problems!

No. There were gas leaks all over the county yesterday - not just at Stall - and especially in north charleston. It was due to the system being overtaxed in that area due to the cold temps.
Where any other schools in the area closed? The explanation provided by Anonymous 9:49 doesn't provide a complete picture. So far it sounds too isolated to be a system wide gas distribution problem.
It's not valid. If gas leaks had occurred all over the district due to overtaxing the supply, headlines would have appeared on the news! See latest update above.
