Balog's Column Attacks Zais for Teachers' Union

Did you wonder what the "South Carolina Education Association" was when you read Melanie Balog's Thursday column attacking Mick Zais?

This Jackie Hicks,  whose opinions Balog treats as the gold standard, is president of what is called South Carolina's "union representing public school teachers in the state [which is] affiliated with the National Education Association" (NEA), an organization that never met a fiscal conservative it liked.

To say that Balog uncritically swallows the union line doesn't put too fine a point on it.

Apparently she's been taking lessons from Brian Hicks.

As long as the SC chapter of the NEA, the SC School Boards Association and the SC Superintendents Association are all in bed with each other there will be no honest advocacy for improved teaching standards. These are the same groups that help to prevent meaningful improvements in the academic opportunties for a majority of public school students. Good teachers and most students continue to be the loosers in this set up. At least the debate around Zais and his policies are forcing us to reflect on the short comings of all the players, regardless of the special interest groups that defend them.

"Loosers?" Hmmmmm...don't you mean "losers?" Also, I believe "shortcomings" is missing a hyphen.

To 7:25, Do you troll the web looking for spelling mistakes? BTW, The trend is to omit hyphens.
