Yes, it's true.
Let's hope former Charleston County School District Superintendent (and now-embattled Seattle Superintendent) Maria Goodloe-Johnson is merely visiting her in-laws.

Word is she lives here now. She didn't sell her house and it looks like she was stuck with it when the local market took a dive. This was just after she moved to Seattle. Now she is back. Some say she is looking for positions she might consider equal to her recent titles. Head-hunting education officials in at least two states on the east coast have already said 'no thanks'.
The Broad Institute has finally found a $200k per year job for Goodloe-Johnson. http://www.kirotv.com/news/news/michigan-taps-maria-goodloe-johnson-help-save-fail/nFbC3/
And not everyone is happy about it.
Why would anybody be happy about it except Maria?
The Detroit News said this about the former Charleston and Seattle superintendent. At least some in the press and the Seattle school board have move beyond simply reprinting press releases. The elephant in the living room is what Seattle has done is exactly what Charleston isn't doing. Don't ask, don't tell, but eventually there will have to be an audit by an independent investigator. Too many skeletons are known to be in the closet.
See this link for the full story.

from the December 8, 2011, Detroit News....
Asked why the board fired Goodloe-Johnson, Seattle school board Director Michael DeBell said, "To put it simply, she lost the trust of the board. She had not shared the evidence of this program when it went badly astray — that appeared to be a conscious decision and that allowed the problem to get worse. It became a significant scandal."
As a result of her firing, the Seattle Public School district rewrote its governance policies, DeBell said.
The district also contracted with the city of Seattle for an ethics officer to investigate complaints in the district and created an internal auditor position that answers to the school board — not the superintendent.
WOW...IMAGINE THAT...AN INTERNAL AUDITOR THAT ANSWERS TO THE SCHOOL BOARD - NOT THE SUPERINTENDENT!!!!
Isn't this like really old news now? Can't we just move on? Does anybody really care about a "sighting?" Get a life.
People who follow CCSD, like those in Seattle are doing right now, should be concerned about how not to repeat past mistakes. This is "old news" unless we "move on" to such an extent that we fail to remember the mistakes. Then we wake up and it's de ja vous all over again.
BTW, it is interesting that MGJ lists Superintendent of CCSD as part of her professional qualifications on her Linkedin page announcing her new position in Michigan, but she conveniently leaves out her time in Seattle. That is exactly why this will never really be old news.
