Where Is Stall's Celebratory Article?

Stall High School in North Charleston has been taken off life support, thanks to its progress in meeting NCLB standards. It is the one school in all of the Charleston County School District that the State Superintendent has removed from the Palmetto Priority Schools Project due to its improvement.

So where is the front-page article extolling Stall's success?

Funny, Superintendent McGinley usually touts every little improvement in the schools. Could it be that she hasn't fed the information to the P&C because she doesn't want Stall's success to be widely known?

Well, if she's still planning to combine Stall and North Charleston High Schools, the reason may be just that. The so-called committee of interested community persons to discuss that plan still hasn't met. Hmm.

Time for a little investigative reporting, Diette.

You keep assuming that Diette is an impartial reporter. If that is what she believes herself to be, she is not seeing her inability to really report.

I think she is more likely a member of Dr. McGinley's cabinet of information squelchers.

I keep HOPING that Diette is a serious reporter. I also wonder how much the editors of the P&C allow in the way of negative information regarding CCSD.

There's lots of good stuff regarding CCSD that goes unreported Babbie, and lots of bad stuff that gets ignored. When the paper and its writer has a particular agenda, it is difficult to accept as journalism.

Her defense/canonization of the former principal of the Math and Science Charter as he was coming back into town (from being in NC), and her complete ignorance of his dismissal (which should have been news) should give you all of the information you need about her.

Babbie,

Do you have proof that they have been officially taken off of the list?

Regardless, hats off to the kids an teachers.

The Blue Ribbon Task Force that has formed around the futures of NCHS and Stall has been meeting since April. It meets at North Charleston City Hall on the 2nd and 4th Thursday at 6pm. So far much of the work has been informational to get everyone up to speed on the large amount of Data needed to make plans.

Is this blue ribbon committee really developing community based support for a plan? Or is this group simply an extension of the superintendent's plan to go ahead with what she has decided already? Nothing for or against her plan...only is it what the community wants and will the community support an alternative?

The Blue Ribbon team is made up of community folks, parents and a few staff from each high school. McGinley does not lead the group, ILZC staff or Lou Martin attend simply to provide information as it is requested by the group.
