I am so sorry that most people here believe Buist is a school for the intellectually gifted-- Not! It is reserved for the well-connected. There are kids who attend Buist who can't read or write. I must admit there is about 55% of the students who are intellectually gifted and these are the kids who carry the weight of those who are not so bright. Buist is not all people claim it to be. There are schools in Charleston County School District that run circles around Buist. Look at the data and stop relying simply on the name of the school-- Buist! This data can be found on ccsd's website via school report card.
The secret of the entire game is to know well SB and MB, and you are in! Have some money too..that always helps! THIS IS ANOTHER VICTORY FOR SB's WRONGDOINGS! I DON"T SEE HOW SHE SLEEPS AT NIGHT!
Well everything at Buist is shady. Every two years, Sallie Ballard gets a new Assistant principal. The African-American guy (can't remember his name) left. I heard he was a great assistant principal. CCSD loses all of its truly comitted folks....so sad.Now there is a new AP on the scene, African-American of course, I wander how long she will stay.
Anonymous 9:44... seems you can't write something different than what you wrote on the P&C website. Copy and paste... lazy, lazy.
I see you did write a little something more about Sallie Ballard. Sounds like you have a grudge going there. Did your kid not get in or get kicked out for some reason. What's the real reason behind your animosity?
About Buist, it's not perfect, but it's a choice for the county. Not just for downtown kids. My child has come and gone. We have no connections and live paycheck to paycheck. Instead of bitching about Buist all the time why don't you try to do something about every district in Charleston.
Yea...sometimes Dr.Bryan could be a jerk but he brought alot of charisma to the position for a change. He and Marsha Moreland helped alot in most cases until Sallie got in the way. Who is the new AP? By the way, I'm no Buist basher...the truth is the truth.
He was no idiot...he helped my kid out in several cases where he should have been suspended. He really had good insight into alot of the issues at Buist. The community just didn;t receive him well. I do miss him. I wander what he is up to this year. Anyone knows? Is he a principal in CCSD?
Your post says it all..."he helped my kid out when he should have been suspended"...maybe your kid needed to take the punishment he deserved (your words, he should have been suspended!) Do your kid a favor and let him take his lumps, it will make him a better person. BTW Dr. Bryan left CCsd and is in the upstate.
Dr. Bryan helped me with a serious "problem" with a out-of- control parent. Although things didn't turn out the way I hoped, I have to say thanks to Dr. Bryan for his support and insight. ALSO Marsha Mooreland, Tommy Sinclair AND Sallie Ballard were there for me. I appreciate all they did to help me through one of the most disturbing and stressful events I have had to deal with. Even though I longer have my child at Buist because of the vindictive and sick behavior of the other parent involved, I wish the best for the school and the administration.

Oh, Dr. Bryan was the AP last year.
Animosity and lies...I can see the Buist bashers are out again.
For the record Dr. Bryan was no winner.
