That'll Work: Task Force to Stop Teacher-Student Sex

"Jim Rex, the head of South Carolina schools, launched a task force Thursday aimed at stopping teachers from having sex with students," according to Channel 4 News.

My question is: If the Summerville High School teacher charged with taking female students to his home and providing alcohol to them is 43 years old and the principal says he has been employed at Summerville for "about three years," where was he teaching before?

And what recommendations did the previous schools provide?

SC is known for passing teachers along...
Does anyone remember a teacher by the name of Hoffmeyer? I'm not sure if I have the spelling correct, but he went from Richland County to Socastee before he was caught. And if I remember correctly, he was at another SC high school before Richland County.

Oh, you've really opened a Pandora's Box with this subject. CCSD has its own issues with passing the trash. After Eddie Fisher spent a few years in local Parochial Schools he moved on to CCSD. He took a job at one downtown high school and almost offered a position at another where they hired someone just as bad instead. He went on to Porter-Gaud, then later to another private school before eventually ending up at James Island High. He did the grand tour of local schools and did damage everywhere he went. This was possible because no school officials said anything. CCSD was still silent as late 1999 (or there about) when its in-house attorney (none other than Toya Green) swept a related complaint under the rug. The only thing Toya Green wanted to know was if the perpetrator was still employed by CCSD or not. She didn't care about anything else. He wasn’t, so as she put it, the issue was of no concern to her or her client (CCSD). These things don’t exist in a vacuum except in the minds of those who have no integrity themselves.

As an attorney (an officer of the court) Ms. Green is required to follow up when information is given to her about impropieties involving a CCSD employee. She appears not to have done this. The law is clear. She would have been required to report it immediately upon learning the facts no matter when the alleged assault(s) may have happened.
