Do you believe in fairy tales?
If so, you must be one of the few readers of the P&C that believe the assertion that Chris Collins's failure to pay rent to the Charleston County School Board as been widely publicized as a public service and not as payback for challenging Chris Fraser's miserable performance as an independent CCSD Board chairman.
You must also believe that Elizabeth Kandrac's continued opposition to the proposals of the majority of the Board of Trustees has no connection whatsoever to the P&C's "expose" of her training expenditures. The P&C clearly believes that only rich people like Chris Fraser should be on the Board, and then they wouldn't bill CCSD for their expenses.
Of course, Chris Fraser himself is low spender because he doesn't need to attend any educational classes; he takes his orders straight from the superintendent and then asks how high to jump.
Or so it seems to many observers.

What about all the other groups that use, rent or occupy CCSD space? Church groups use a number of CCSD buildings on a regular basis. CCSD so far has not given out any information on those leases. Do all of them even have leases?
In his last report to the board on next year's budget, Michael Bobby said the district received no rental income from anyone. That was before he pushed the board to approve the district's budget without a single change from the way he presented it. If his budget said CCSD shouldn't plan on any rental income, what's this about Collins and his church? What about the others? Sounds like another example of Michael Bobby hiding the details in order to tell the board and the public the school district has no money. Now that the budget is approved, he can bring this out as a stick to use on a board member who in their eyes isn't cooperating with the administration's bigger agenda.
Rev. Collins is in bed with snakes if he is doing business with these people. Even if they were nice people (and they aren't) his church probably shouldn't be renting from CCSD. That is as long as he is a school district trustee or until he is no longer employed by this church.
The reverend is renting an empty space, the article reads as though it is pro-rated since he isn't using it daily. So he has a lease. Churches who rent an 'active' school building, say each Sunday for service, are actually renting the school from Community Education just like anyone else who wishes to utilize a school building for a special event. The property the reverend is renting is highly valuable, near the intersection of Rivers and Remount in North Charleston. The building is a mess and they should sell the property asap. In fact the very same reverend refered to the building as 'deplorable' when he toured it before the school that was there closed. I guess its not too deplorable for his congregation. I didn't pick up on the rich vs poor angle on the P&C article... I'm more concerned with why her travel expenses are news yet the fact she doesn't even live in the district she supposedly represents (North Charleston) isn't news. Oh well C'est La Vie Diette.
Greg Meyers lived on Sullivan's Island while he was supposed to be representing West Ashley. Then he moved back to West Ashley while he was still representing East Cooper. No surprise, he also though out of county students should be able to attend Charleston County magnet schools. Elizabeth Kandrac lives in North Charleston. Hey, she even rides the bus. That's more than the gas gulping superintendent does with her four figure monthly travel allowance.
Though she doesn't get paid for those miles either, Elizabeth Kandrac still takes the trouble to visit the rest of the county schools which is more than most members of the board bother to do. Even board chairman Chris Fraser doesn't know what half these schools look like or where they are. He represents West Ashley and his kids went to Porter-Gaud and East Cooper schools. And when Chris Fraser does go to training conferences out of town, it's a waste. Instead of sitting through training sessions, he spends most of his time in the hallways on his cell phone doing personal business. Charleston taxpayers paid for that and Fraser learned nothing.
