Mr. Pomposity Hicks Blasts Hollinshed for Postlewait

One of Brian Hicks's great talents that endear him to our local rag is his ability to denigrate members of the Charleston County School Board who don't go along and get along with the CCSD administration's point of view. Elizabeth Kandrac was one; Elizabeth Moffly another. Now the attacker comes for Kevin Hollinshed.

What did Hollinshed do to deserve Hicks's sarcasm? He questioned the lawyer chosen to investigate why a man was allowed to remain on the job at an elementary school for two years after porn was found on his CCSD computer.

How dare he!

Never mind that the School Board had no chance for input into the choice of this lawyer, whom Hollinshed pointed out has close ties to the administration. According to Hicks, Hollinshed "went too far" in his criticism of the choice:

“We’ve got an African-American lawyer who ... can’t even tell you where Montague Avenue is across the railroad tracks in Liberty Hill, or where Dunston is,” Hollinshead said on Quintin’s Close-Ups, a popular local YouTube show. “He don’t know the area, don’t think in our area. I don’t think (he) eats fried chicken.”

Hicks doesn't realize that some African-Americans actually have a sense of humor. Neither does Kate Darby, who apologized last week on behalf of the Board. Clearly Hicks wants the Board ask "how high" when Postlewait says "Jump." He wants politics out of the room, even though the Board is elected.

How would that work, Brian? We would have elections without politics? The superintendent would select the Board herself?

Get over yourself. Count to 10.
